Rafi Nova saw a problem in the deaf and hard of hearing community with cloth masks. For this community, masks prevent lip reading and impair communications. We initiated a partnership with actress Millicent Simmonds in which she customized the clear mask and chose two organizations, Deaf Women of Color and Texas Hand and Voices, to receive all the proceeds. The campaign was a win-win: Millie's mask raised funds for meaningful organizations and Rafi Nova reached a much larger audience with Millie's support.
NPR has a national reach with a discerning audience that is passionate about learning and education. Listen to Rafi Nova CEO Marissa Goldstein and speech pathologist Olivia Gampel share the story behind the making of the clear Smile Mask and the critical role visual cues play in communication.
The interview was broadcasted over hundreds of channels nationwide and coast to coast. The impact of media relations can speak volumes to your brand.
Good Morning America loves a great story - especially one centered on hope and kindness overcoming adversity. Our partnership with Rafi Nova and Millicent Simmonds did that in a major way. The “Millie Mask” is a story that solves a problem for nearly 14% of Americans who are deaf or hard of hearing.
